Home Open Badges: Delivery and Consultation
Open Badges are digital tools designed to make the recognition of learning, skills, contributions, and commitments visible and shareable. They are based on a simple idea: recognition comes not only from institutions, but also from peers, communities, and real-world situations. They can therefore be issued in a wide variety of contexts—education, projects, communities, organizations, etc.
The information they contain is verifiable and includes: the identity of the issuer and the recipient, the award criteria, and supporting documentation (traces, evidence, testimonials) attesting to what has been recognized.
Within the CoDEMO project, badges are used as a tool to recognize participants’ contributions, their learning, and their engagement in project activities. They highlight aspects that are often overlooked in traditional systems: active participation, collaboration, experimentation, and sharing of best practices.
ORCA (Open Recognition Community App) is the platform used in CoDEMO to issue, request, and validate badges within a community of practice, interest, or theme.
On ORCA, everyone can recognize the contributions of others, transforming recognition into a collective and transparent process. Badges thus find their true purpose: as living traces of shared work and commitment.
